Bhitarkanika National Park is a rare and special place. It is called the “Mini Amazon of India” because it is a huge protected mangrove forest. This is not a zoo; it is a real wild place where the rivers are quiet and the air smells like salt water and the first. It is an escape from the noise of the city and into nature.
This forest is alive with amazing animals. You will see giant saltwater crocodiles, some over 20 feet long laying on the mud banks. The park is also a sanctuary for thousands of birds. You can see eight different kinds of kingfishers here, along with herons and storks. It is also common to see families of spotted deer walking right by the water’s edge.

The highlight of any trip to Bhitarkanika is the boat safari. This is your chance to explore the mangrove creeks and see the park’s amazing wildlife up close. Our resort is the perfect starting point if you are getting on this trip. You can wake up, have breakfast at our restaurant, and then get to the park to begin your adventure.
Our team can help you with your boat trip too. Since we know the area, we can give you the best advice on local guides and boat operators so you can have a safe and memorable tour. Once you are done with your long and exciting day of exploring the waters, you can then return to the comfort of Kanika Mangrove.
